A Brief History of the Universe

It wasn’t
then it was,
but no one saw.
It was dark,
then it wasn’t,
then it was, because day hadn’t come
and time hadn’t decided in which direction
it wanted to go, so light couldn’t exhibit the properties of
a wave, so it was dark, tenebraic and holy as a vigil,
and still no one could see.
Eventually, time settled into its forward momentum
adding dimension and weight and difference so things could be relative
or related, or distinct but intertwined, but optic nerves
were a bit too complex to weave
in the beginning, so
no one saw.
Eventually, after a drawn out but
logical series of events, particles passed through
irises of eyes still too poor to see the magnitude trying to greet them,
but they did. And it was a start.
